Popular Reading
Purpose and Scope
The purpose of the popular reading (POPR) collection at the Chester Fritz library is to support and encourage recreational reading. Priority is given to current UND students, but the collection is open to all library patrons that use the library. Layout of the collection is intended to be visually appealing, meaning new items will be on display and books will be arranged on the shelf that makes the collection easier to browse. Items in the collection will be kept to the most recent six years of publication.
The collection is not intended to be a comprehensive collection of series but rather a small selection of current, popular works. If students, faculty, or staff are not finding a specific book within the collection, they may be referred to the public library or encouraged to fill out a recommendation form. All recommendations will be evaluated. Due to materials in this collection being intended for recreational reading, items selected for this collection should not be intended to support the curriculum.
